In March, we put our endurance to the test as we took on the long journey from Jurong East MRT to VivoCity. This gruelling route spans over a distance of more than 15km, and has a variety of uphills and downhills to tackle.

More than 80 skaters showed up for the challenge, and they created quite a buzz at Jurong East MRT Station as passerbys stopped and looked on as the skaters gathered and got themselves prepared. The SAVs were on hand to perform their duties, and there were a couple of new SAV-to-be who are using this SNS as graduation assessment.

We promptly set off at 8pm, departing from the interchange and headed towards Commonwealth Ave West, which was the main route for the journey. It took us past several MRT Stations along the East-West line and Singapore Polytechnic, as well as Ulu Pandan Park Connector. It was a magnificent sight to look back and see an such a huge entourage of skaters following behind me.

The toughest part of the journey has got to be along Henderson Rd, where we had to climb a steep uphill initially. Every had to put their thigh and calf muscles to the test, and VivoCity was nearing then. But when we reached the top of the uphill, where the Henderson Wave Bridge was beckoning above us, everyone was pumped up for the adrenalin rush that was to follow: going on a long downhill ride until we reach West Coast Highway!

Fortunately, no one was injured, and everyone made it down safely. Upon reaching West Coast Highway, it was apparent where VivoCity resides as we can almost see it. Everyone made a final dash to the end point, where they could rest their tired legs and get some due refreshments.

It was an exhausting ride, but worth every moment. I'm sure the skaters will savour the memories of riding the downhill of Henderson Rd, and truly, thank God for the good weather.

On behalf of Skateline, I thank all the participants who supported the event, as well as the following SAVs who made it safe for us:
David, Phillip, Shane, Steven, Terrance, Susanna, Chun Yang, Eric Tay & Timothy.
Congratulations to these newly graduated SAVs: Jessica, Ruth, Chong Boon, Lay Suan, Andrew & Eric Tan.
